As you can tell they have a deep relationship. sneakerwolf has been developed his talent as a designer or a painter. “ASICS Tiger GEL-LYTE III “HIKESHI-HANTEN” features "wa" -Japanese culture", one of his important motif of art, and he expressed his unique and bold designing sense into his special model. We, the Japanese used to call a firefighter as a "HIKESHI" in EDO era (1603~1868). This time we feature "HIKESHI" for the concept of the sneaker. We adopted indigo, vermillion and white which are the main colors of "HIKESHI" uniform. A plain weaved cotton was used as a main fabric of the sneaker just like their uniform "HIKSHI HANTEN". For the details we used leather and suede which express fire-resistance. The most characteristic of all are the translucent outsole and the characters on the split tongue, the unique part of GEL-LYTE III. The both have the logo of “KICKS LAB.” designed with sneakerwolf’s signature style “”Kanji-Graphy”. He designed those with unique alphabets paying respect to EDO style characters. For the insole, he printed a tiger and a dragon which used to be the symbols for representing “IKI”. “IKI” is the way of behavior, thoughts or living that the men in EDO era such as HIKESHI, TOBI or HIKYAKU used to regard as stylish. The sneaker is very detailed with sneakerwolf’s favorites and thoughts and it became a very special one. About “sneakerwolf” A Japanese artist born in 1975.
